Guilherme Paulus: IBM To Hospitality

Guilherme Paulus was born in Sao Paulo in 1949. He studied for Business Administration while at college and immediately became employed by IBM. When he was 24 years old, he and his then partner, Carlos Vicente Cerchiari co-founded CVC in the year 1972.

Guilherme Paulus took his skills into account and he began to work on making sure CVC was the most successful business he was going to run that would have a significant role in Brazil’s tourism industry.

When Guilherme Paulus started his business with a vision of being in more than just one tourism market. He took to account all the needs of his customers and he focuses a lot on meeting the specific needs of each customer that visits any of the resorts he has built.

During the time when he began to promote domestic tourism in Brazil, he urged the people to begin taking flights instead of taking road trips to his resort. At the time, there were more international flights than local and this is where CVC managed to maneuver to their advantage.

Brazilian tourists can visit CVC branches in over 250 shopping malls and the consumers have access to 140 hypermarkets and commercial galleries. Guilherme Paulus is focused on introducing his company to the whole of Latin America by opening up more offices. He creates new niches wherever opportunities arise.

The use of technology by CVC is undoubtedly one of the best techniques which help with dispersing information to customers and helping understand and act efficiently on the requests of our customers and the upcoming market trends.

In 2009, Guilherme Paulus found an innovative global investment kitty that aided CVC acquire more success. CVC began trading public stocks in the stock exchange in 2013. Currently, CVC earns over $5 billion annually and continues to gain more and more profit. They expect to open over 80 stores annually in different locations.
